Adult Formation 

 

Books Brothers:  This is a men’s bible study on Wednesdays, 7:00 a.m. in the parish hall (typically fall and spring).  Fellowship meets for 45-60 minutes around select books of the bible.  Biblical literacy is not required, just a desire to learn.  Bible books and supplemental resources, like study guides and companion books are offered at the discretion of the group leadership.  Mark Ellis, ellisdmd@bellsouth.net, 236-1841.  John Hardy, omrbl@bellsouth.net, 232-8674, Jerry Lilly, 236-5757.

Cursillo/Ultreya:  The Cursillo movement is a method of church renewal that begins with a weekend retreat.  The purpose is to help Christians renew their Christian commitment and to understand their roles as leaders in all of life.  The monthly meeting is called an Ultreya.  Onaye Farrish, 662-563-1761, onaye@bellsouth.net.

Daughters of the King: The Daughters of the King is a national order of women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church and who undertake a life committed to the “rule of prayer and a rule of service.”  They are dedicated to the spread of Christ’s Kingdom and to the strengthening of the spiritual life of their parish.  Lucy Turnbull, 234-3392.

Centering Prayer:  Using both lectio divina, the meditative reading of bible lessons, and silent prayer, a varying group meets Wednesdays at noon in the choir room to deepen their faith.  Taylor Moore, 234-1269, rector@stpetersoxford.org.

Everyday Sisters:  A women’s book group which gathers Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in  the large parlor.  Thoughtful conversation and meaningful relationships abound.  Childcare is provided.  Liza Mallette, 236-5459, mallette@panola.com; Rosie McDavid, 236-1296, rosie@olemiss.edu.

Writing in the Spirit:  Every Monday a group meets at 6:30 p.m. in the small parlor to write a response to one of the Bible lessons from Sunday and then to discuss the creative responses.  Mary Ann Bowen, 236-4612.
